Answer:

The narrator, Mr. Bond, bought a long-handled broom from an old junk-shop in the bazaar.

When the broom was brought home, there appeared a black with a mysterious look.

The cat loved to move around the broom all the time.

At this time, a woman, equally mysterious in appearance, Miss Bellows, came to Bond’s house in search of her cat.

While Mr. Bond went for the cat, the cat came to Miss Bellows, sat in her lap.

When Mr. Bond returned without the cat, he saw the cat with its owner.

The narrator offered her a tea first and then some brandy but she wanted only a glass of very hot water.

He gave her a glass of boiling water into which she poured two different powders; one purple and the other crimson.

The drink was a fizzy one, still boiling. Miss Bellows drank the potion and left Mr. Bond’s cottage.

While Mr. Bond remained shocked, unable to move, he noticed that the broom also was missing.

When he ran out of the cottage, he saw that Miss Bellows and the cat were flying on the broomstick and singing a mysterious song.
