The Bantu are said to have originated in West Africa. It is estimated that, they started to migrate across the Congo basin into the south and east of Africa, at the beginning of 1000 BC (though this fact is still not established). Unpredictable droughts, invariably followed by famine, is what forced them into this migration.  

Bantu are basically people who speak Bantu language and most have converted to Christianity or Islam.
