After winning the battle of Buxar, British East India Company became diwan and Bengal was under the control of British.
The British took Diwani rights from Mughals and nizamat rights from Nawabs of Bengal. From Diwani rights, the British got the right to collect revenue from Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. The district of Kota and Allaha bad were taken from Nawabs of Awadh . The Mughal emperor granted the Northern Circars and became a pensioner under the British.
