When the concentration of acid increases in our stomach ( HCl ) then it causes acidity, so what happens if the concentration of base increases in our body? And when does it happen?

When basicity in our stomach increases its called as Alkalosis.

Though this is rare because Our stomach has a feedback mechanism, which ensures that the pH is maintained, If the pH of our stomach goes beyond 7 ,our stomach produces more HCl in an attempt to bring it to the normal pH level.

Excess concentration of basicity can also be the result of HCl deficiency,
which may occur due to :

#excessive use of antacid (basic in nature).
#HCl production ceases after the age of 45 This may lead to Alkalosis.
#A bacteria called helicobacter pylori (H-Pylori) stops the secretion of HCl

Our blood can with hold certain range of acidity, but higher level of basicity can be lethal , hence body have the certain mechanism to make it under control.

For this reason increased basicity is not much popularized in our textbooks.
