The ocean currents move in circular manner but there movement is different in different hemishperes.

The distinct movement in their direction is cause by the Coriolis effect.

This effect explains the change in direction in both the hemishperes due to the rotation of Earth.

Due to this, objects tend to deflect towards right in the northern hemisphere and towards the left in southern hemisphere.

In ther words, the currents have a clockwise circular movement in northern hemishpere and anti-clockwise movement in southern hemisphere.

The main difference observed in currents is that in northern hemisphere the currents flow clockwise while in the southern hemisphere they flow anticlockwise.
