Reason for the sparks is friction and it is between the knife and rotatory stone.
Based on the kinds of sparks, there are variety of spark arrestors are present that would conveniently prevent the dangerous nuisance.
The chimneys as well as exhausts of fuel-burning engines are steam engines and the internal combustion engines have spark arrestors.
