Answer:
The diamond merchant had three sons.
Let us assume that he had x amount of diamonds.
So his first son gets 1/3x diamonds ,
his second son gets 1/10x diamonds,
his third son gets 1/12x diamonds ,
And his wife gets 58 diamonds
So according to the question,
1/3x+1/10x+1/12x+58=x,
x= 120
So he had 120 diamonds before he died.
