If a chemical equation is not balanced it implies that either mass has been created or destroyed which is a contradiction to law of conversation of mass which states that matter can niether be created nor destroyed .

Explanation:

If the particular equation has balanced law of conservation of mass in both sides product and reactant then it is said to be balanced equation

But if it doesn't follow the law of conservation of mass, then it is imbalance

(Law of conservation of mass means having same total mass of elements)

Hope it helps!
