When the free ends of a conductivity tester (made by using a battery connected to a wire wound around a compass) are dipped into a solution, the magnetic needle shows deflection. Can you give the reason for this deflection.

Hii mate here Ur answer from NCERT book....If u use NCERT books to learn then only u learn my this answer....

  • When free ends of a tester is dipped in the solution, the solution conducts electricity as it is a good conductor of electricity.

  • So, the circuit is now complete. Hence, electricity passes through the wire.

  • Now, we know that electric current produces magnetic effect.

  • Therefore, magnetic needle shows deflection.

ok I Hope it's help uh...mark me brainliest plz ..

Conductivity tester

Explanation:

The deflection in the compass needle is proof that current is flowing through the wounded wire and hence, through the circuit. When the free ends of the tester are dipped in the solution, the circuit is complete as the solution is a conducting solution. When the circuit is complete, electricity passes through the wire. The current induces a magnetic field and hence the magnetic needle shows deflection.

The situation is not true if the solution is a non-conductor.
