when the gases sulphur dioxide and hidrogen sulphur mix in the presence of water the reaction is SO2+2H2S-2​

Hydrogen is usually in a +1 oxidation state and oxygen a -2 state. Look at H2S , the oxidation number of sulphur has gone from -2 to 0. This means that it has been oxidised and is therefore a reducing agent. For SO2 , the oxidation number of sulphur has gone from +4 to 0.
