When a piece of glass is dropped from a height. At that height it have potential energy which is converted to kinetic energy during its fall. The glass is attracted towards the earth due to the gravitational force.
When the glass is just above the ground, all its potential energy has been converted to kinetic energy. This kinetic energy in the glass is transferred to ground as an action force and the ground also exerts the reaction force of same magnitude on the glass.
The ground is not able to be broken due the action force of the glass but the glass in it too strong and hence is broken by the reaction force of ground...
Hence we can conclude that due to the GRAVITATIONAL FORCE of earth, the glass was attracted to ground and hence was broken.
(Note: Newton's third law of motion: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction)
