let the Length of rectangle be = l

If it is halved, then its length will be = l/2

Area of Rectangle = l×b = lb

Area of halved Length Rectangle = l/2 × b

lb/2

Increase in Area = Area of Original Rectangle – Area of Halved Length Rectangle

= lb – lb/2

= lb/2

% of Increase in Area = [Increase in Area/Original Rectangle Area] × 100

= lb/2 × 1/lb × 100

= 50%

Thus the Area of Rectangle increases by 50%
