Answer:

During the extraction of ink (the coloured substance from the liquid ink) the principle of separation involved is evaporation.

In this process, the ink is heated with over water bath. When water starts boiling it starts heating the ink. In this process, the liquid component of ink gets evaporated leaving behind only dye.

Given : When the lid is left off an ink bottle, the ink evaporates at a rate of 2.5 x 10⁻⁶ cm³/s ,   A full bottle contains 36  cm³    of ink.

To Find : How long, to  the nearest day, will it take for all the ink to evaporate?

Solution:

Total Ink in bottle   = 36  cm³

ink evaporates at a rate of  2.5 x 10⁻⁶ cm³/s

Time taken to Evaporate =  36   / 25 x 10⁻⁶   secs

= 36 x 10⁶  /25

I hr = 3600 sec

1 day = 24 hrs

Seconds in a  day = 24 * 3600

Time in Days  =   36 x 10⁶   / 25 * 24 * 3600

= 10⁴  / 600

= 10²/6

= 100/6

= 50/3

= 16.67

≈ 17 days

it take 17 Days  for all the ink to evaporate?
