7 Answers. If you add 4 to the numerator, the value of your fraction will be increased by 4y, where y is your denominator. In general you are correct: to solve for two unknowns, you would usually need two equations.

Answer:

A.T.Q

(x+4)/y = x/y + 2/3 ----(1)

But

(x+4)/y = x/y + 4/y ----(2)

From (1),(2), it must follow that

⟺4/y=2/3

⟺2/y=4*3=12

⟺y=12/2=6

So the denominator, y is 6.
