When the object is moving in a circular motion and the force acting on the object is directed towards the centre this force is called centripetal force. Can someone please verify of this definition is correct or not and if there are any changes i can make in this definition as i wrote this definition in my own words.

Answer:

A centripetal force is a net force that acts on an object to keep it moving along a circular path. ... The tension force in the string of a swinging tethered ball and the gravitational force keeping a satellite in orbit are both examples of centripetal forces.
