When the prey is trapped inside the leaves, the leaves secretes certain digestive enzymes with help of which the prey which may be a small insects or ant or bee is digested inside the trap and the nutrient available in the body of the prey is completely utilized by the plant for its metabolic activity and function.

Usually this type of nutrition is found in insectivores’ plant that grows in nitrogen deficient soils. They obtain nitrogen form the trapped prey.
