When the price of rice increases 12*1/2%a man can get 250 gm less rice for Rs.18. Find the present cost of rice per Kg after increment.?

Answer:

The present cost of rice is 9 rupees.  

Let us consider, the man used to buy x g of rice for 18 rupees.

Now that person has to buy ( x - 250 ) g of rice for 18 rupees.

Hence, now the person has to pay 18 + 18*25/2% = 20.25 rupees for x kg rice.

I.e., 250 gm rice costs 18 * 25/200 = 2.25 rupees

Or, 1gm rice costs 2.25/250 RS

Or, 1 kg rice costs 9 rupees.

Hence, the new price of the rice is 9 rupees/ kg.
