The large bends on rivers are called Meander Bends.
Rivers with large Meander Bends are called Meandering rivers. As a result of the river’s flow, the banks are eroded from the outer curve of each bend and these sediments get deposited in the inner bends, downstream. Over a period of time, as a result of this activity, the individual Meanders grow large in size. The deepest part of the river will be the outside bend.
