The powder on Shivani’s hand is pollen.

Pollen refers to tiny particles (spores) found in flowers. These particles get stuck to insects and are then transferred by those insects to other flowers. When humans touch flowers, the pollen gets stuck to our hands too. Since they are tiny and very fine in texture, it feels like we have a powder on our hands.

Pollens are found in the anther. The anther, together with the filament make up the stamen. Pollen is an important part of the pollination process. Since pollination depends a lot on insects and natural forces like the wind, pollen is very light in weight.
