When the sun ,moon and earth are in a straight line, with moon in between the earth and sun ,we see solar eclipse . the diametre of the sun is about 400times greater than that of the moon.yet posssible for the moon to completely eclipse the sun and cause total solar eclipse. explain how this must be possible?

This is too simple because distance can lesser the area. when you see road and people from 10th floor of the building, is it actual area of the road, you see.

This phenomena is used with distance.
High distance is propositional to less area.
