time is 5:40 so minutes hand is at 8hrs diff is 8-5=3

so use formula diff×30-m/2

Given: The time is 5:40.

To find: The angle b/w the hour hand & the minute hand of a clock.

Solution:

A clock (usually a circle) is divided into 12 sectors such that each sector represents 5 minutes by the minute hand and one hour by the hour hand. Every sector measures 30°.

When the time is 5:40, the hour hand is at 5 and the minute hand is at 8. Hence, there are 3 sectors between 5 and 8. Thus, the angle between the two hands can be calculated as shown below.

30 * 3 = 90

Therefore, the angle b/w the hour hand & the minute hand of a clock is 90°.
