When the wind blows it creates pressure on any surface it blows against.A large window has an area of 3.5m2. If the wind causes a force of 2000 Pa on the window, what force acts on it?

GiveN:

  • Area of the large window = 3.5 m²
  • The pressure applied by the force = 2000 Pa

To FinD:

  • We have to find the force applied by the wind on the window?

Step-wise-Step Explanation:

When wind blows, it will obviously applies force on the objects like window here on the particular area. This will apply the pressure. We have the Pressure and area, we need to find the force applied.

Pressure, Force & Area relation:

 \large{ \boxed{ \rm{P =  \frac{F}{A} }}}

Plugging the given values to find F:

⇒ P = F / A

⇒ 2000 Pa = F / 3.5 m²

⇒ F = 2000 × 3.5 N

⇒ F = 7000 N

Hence,

  • The force applied by wind on the window is 7000 N on that particular area of window.

Note:

  • Since the units of pressure and area are in SI units, the unit of force is also expressed in SI unit i.e. Newton(N)

Given :-

  • Area of the large window (A) = 3.5 m²
  • Pressure applied by the force (P) = 2000 pa

To Find :-

  • The force applied by the wind on the window.

Solution :-

As we know that,

P = F/A

Here,

  • P indicates Pressure.
  • F indicates Force.
  • A indicates Area.

Units,

  • Pressure = N/m² (pa)
  • Force = N
  • A = m²

[ Put the values ]

⇒ 2000 = F / 3.5

⇒ 2000 × 3.5 = F

⇒ 7000 = F

F = 7000 N

Therefore,

The force applied by the wind on the window is 7000 N.
