Damped Oscillations.
When a body that is vibrating loses its amplitude after every cycle of vibrations over a period, then that body is said to be exhibiting damped oscillations. This happens because of the energy that is possessed by the vibrating body being lost after every vibration into its surroundings. As a result, the kinetic energy of the particles slowly decreases thus decreasing the amplitude of the vibrations exponentially. The damp forces acting may include frictional forces, Viscous forces, Hysteresis etc.
