When there is an interaction between different bodies, forces come into plays which are
classified as contact and non- contact force. These forces include muscular force,
gravitational force, frictional force etc. The force of friction is always directed along the
surface in contact i.e. it acts along the tangential direction .Friction is considered as a
‘Necessary Evil’ and depends upon the nature of two surfaces in contact.
a. Classify muscular force as Contact force/Non -contact force.
b. Name the type of non-contact force that is responsible for attraction and repulsion between
the charges.
c. Give any practical situation to show that friction is necessary
d, Arrange the following frictional forces in decreasing order:
Sliding friction, Rolling friction, Static friction

Answer:
At least two objects must interact for a force to come into play. Thus, an interaction of one object with another object results in a force between the two objects and no physical contact is necessary.
