Numbers which do not have common factor (other than 1 of course) are called coprimes.

Example:

  • Both primes : 3 and 7, 11 and 19, etc.,

  • One prime and another composite: 5 and 24, 17 and 25 etc.,

  • Both composite: 8 and 15, 20 and 81 etc.,

In all the three cases above, the pair of numbers have no common factor other than 1.

Such pairs of numbers have HCF = 1.
