When this metal reacts with chlorine it forms metal chloride. What kind of a compound is it and what are its properties?

  1. Metals react with chlorine to form ionic chlorides. Most of the metals do not combine with hydrogen. Only a few reactive metals like sodium,potassium,calcium and magnesium react with hydrogen to form metal hydrides.
