When to use definite or indefinite article in french?

We use the articles- 'un', 'une' and 'des' before a noun. The article defines the gender of a noun.
Examples- un crayon (a pencil - masculine)
une fille (a girl - feminine)
des stylos (the pens - plural)
We use 'des' with a plural noun. The gender doesn't matter with 'des'.
Hope this helps you!
