When to use the suffix - hydroxy and ol, in case of -OH?

Ol in the case when alcohol is the priority group
Hydroxy in the case when a more priority group like carboxylic acid is present.

Priority list:(high to low)
Carboxylic acid
Ester
Aldehyde
Ketone
Alcohol

So.... According to the priority list, if there are any other functional groups other than alcohol, since alcohol is the least priority, hydroxy should be used,....
BUT IF ONLY ALCOHOL IS PRESENT, ol should be used
