When to use the word respectively in a sentence?

DEAR MATE,

FIRST WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE WORD LITERALLY MEAN :

It compares two lists, and says that the first in each list matches, the second in both lists match up, the third equally, ETC.

FOR EXAMPLE :

RAM AND SHYAM HAS 20 DOLLARS AND 40 DOLLARS WHEREAS GITA AND RITA HAVE THE SAME RESPECTIVELY.

HERE THE SENTENCE CLARIFIES US THAT RAM IS HAVING 20 DOLLARS;

                                                                      SHYAM IS HAVING 40 DOLLARS

                    AND THE SAME MEANS  GITA IS ALSO HAVING 20 DOLLARS

                                                       &     RITA TOO HAVE 40 DOLLARS.
