When two bodies at different temperatures are placed in thermal contact with each other heat flows from the body at higher temperature to the body at lower temperature until both of them acquire the same temperature. Assuming that there is no loss of heat to the surroundings the heat.
A)gained by the hotter body will be equal
B)the heat gained by the hotter body will be less than the heat lost by the colder body
C)the heat gained by the hotter body will be greater than the heat lost by the colder body
D)the heat lost by the hotter body will be equal to the heat gained by the colder body.

Answer:Heat is a form of energy that gets transferred from one medium or object to another medium/object. Suppose if we a colder body and a hotter body and if it brought in contact, the heat gets transferred from the hotter body to colder body until the system of hotter & colder attains equilibrium.

When two bodies at different temperatures are placed in thermal contact with each other, heat flows from the body at a higher temperature until they both acquire the same temperature. Assuming that there is no loss of heat to the surroundings, then The heat lost by the hotter body will be equal to the heat gained by the colder body

d is the answer

The answer is option D.

  • Just like all other forms of energy, heat energy flows from its higher concentration area to the lower concentration.
  • If we assume that no heat is absorbed by the surroundings, the amount of heat given out by the hotter object will be equal to the heat absorbed by the cooler object.
  • If we take it that there is no loss of heat to the surroundings,  then the whole amount of heat is absorbed by the cooler object. Thus option d is the answer.
