when two ends of the mettalic wire are connected across the terminals of cell, some potential difference is set up between the ends. in which direction, electron flowing through the conductor?

from positive terminal to the negative

positive flow from high to low potential difference and
negative flow from low to high potential difference so according to question electron flow from low to high potential difference
