Given:

When two hemispheres of diameter 14cm each are joined face to face

To find:

Find the surface area of solid so formed

Solution:

If the 2 hemispheres are joined face to face the solid so formed is the sphere.

The diameter of the sphere, d = 14 cm

∴ The radius of the sphere, r = \frac{d}{2} = \frac{14}{2} = 7 \:cm

We know the formula as:

\boxed{\bold{Surface \:area \:of \:a \:shpere = 4 \pi r^2 }}

Now, substituting the value of r in the above formula, we get

The surface area of the solid sphere is,

= 4 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 7^2 }}

= 4 \times 22 \times 7

= \bold{616\:cm^2}

Thus, the surface area of the solid sphere so formed is → 616 cm².
