When two plane mirrors are placed parallel and facing each other and an object is
placed in between then infinite images are formed. Why, then only a few images are actually visible?

When an object is placed between two plane parallel mirrorrs, then infinite number of images are formed. Images are formed due to multiple reflections. At each reflection, a part of light energy is absorbed. Therefore, distant images get fainter.
