Given :

R₁ = 6 ohm

R₂ = 12 ohm

To Find :

Effective resistance

Solution :

Two resistors are said to be connected in parallel if one end of each is connected to a common point, and the other end to another point.

Equivalent / Effective Resistance (R) in a parallel combination can be given as -

R = \frac{R_1R_2}{R_1 + R_2}

So, the effective resistance (R) when R₁ = 6 ohm and R₂ = 12 ohm is

R = \frac{6 * 12}{6 + 12}

R = \frac{72}{18}

R = 4 ohm

Therefore, the effective resistance is 4 ohm.
