SNDT women’s university or Shreemathi Nathibai Damodar Thackersey University was first women’s university in India and South-East Asia. It was established on 5th July 1916 by Dr Dhond Keshav Kare.
Explanation :
With the aim of the welfare of women by education, Dr. Dhondo dreamt of setting up a women’s college which grew into a university. SNDT celebrated its 100 anniversary on 5th July 2016. Many notable alumni like Rani Mukherjee, Sonakshi Sinha etc were educated from here.
