Civil Disobedience Movement started on March 12, 1930
The notorious Dandi March began the civil disobedience movement when Gandhi left the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on foot with 78 other Ashram members towards Dandi on March 12, 1930. The Gandhi-Irwin deal put a stop to the civil disobedience campaign. On March 5, 1931, Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India, signed it. The Indian National Congress put an end to the civil disobedience campaign under the terms of the Gandhi-Irwin accord.
