Some planets have been know for a long time to people as these planets were used to watch the stars( Astrology). Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter can all be seen with the naked eye so it's actually not possible to say who discovered it and when..

Other planets:

Uranus: William Hershel ( March 13 1781)
Neptune: Johan Galle and Heinrich Louis d' Arrest ( Saptember 18 1846)
Later it was observed as a star by Galileo Galilie too ..
Pluto( dwarf planet): Clyde Tombaugh ( February 18 1930)
