Various social workers have been involved in educating and searing people about keeping cleanliness and taking care of hygiene but the proper system of education on cleanliness was started in the year 2014 when The National Institute of Cleanliness Education and Research was started under the Swacch Bharat Programme.

The National Institute of Cleanliness Education and Research has been set up by the efforts of Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi Ji.
