Green revolution is the term used internationally to describe the important increase in agricultural productivity and therefore of food between 1960 and 1980 in the India and later extended by numerous countries. It was started in 1960.
The green revolution consisted of planting improved varieties of wheat, maize and other grains, capable of achieving high yields through the use of fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation. With these varieties and procedures, it is perceived that the production is greater than that obtained with traditional cultivation techniques and varieties.
