When Evelyn was 8 years old it was first noticed that there was something wrong with her. She stared losing her hearing from the age of 8.

Explanation:

• Dame Evelyn Elizabeth Ann Glennie was born on 19 July 1965. She is a Scottish drummer.
• She was one of two winners of the Polar Music Awards 2015. Glennie was born in Meslick, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The indigenous musical traditions of northeast Scotland were important to her development as a musician. Her first instruments were  piano and  clarinet.
• Glennie became completely deaf at the age of 12 and began losing her hearing at the age of eight. This does not limit his performance. She regularly performs barefoot in her live performances and her recordings in the studio  to get a feel for her music. Glennie claims her hearing loss is largely misunderstood by the general public, explaining that she taught herself to hear with parts of her body other than her ears.
