Explanation:
The latter half of the nineteenth century saw the rise of large-scale factory / industry in India. In his study in 1872-73, Major Moore, Inspector-in-Chief of the Bombay Cotton Department, first raised the issue of the provision of legislation to control working conditions in factories; the first Factories Act was enacted in 1881.
The act has since been revised on numerous occasions. The 1934 Factories Act was passed to amend all existing factory laws. The act was drawn up in the light of the Royal Labour Commission's findings. The Act has also been revised from time to time.
