Babur, the famous Mughal Emperor invaded India in the first battle of
Panipat that was fought on 21st April, 1526. After the battle was over,
Babur occupied the thrones Delhi and Agra and established his reign. He
overpowered the throne of
Ibrahim Lodi. He laid the foundation for the extravagant rise of Mughal
rule in
India but he did faced stiff competition from Rana Sanga.
The very crucial and decisive first battle of Panipat took place between Babur and Ibrahim Lodi on April 21, 1526. Babur had collected a large army of 700 gun-carts and strategically placed his canons and matchlocks in the center. Even though his army was too small as compared to 1 Lakh army of Sultan Ibrahim Lodi yet by noon the Sultan of India was beheaded. And on 27 April 1526, in a Public Prayer in Delhi mosque, name of the new emperor of India 'Babur' was announced.
