The Indian general election of 1951–52, held from 25 October 1951 to 21 February 1952, was the first election to the Lok Sabha. First Session of this Lok Sabha commenced on 13 May 1952.

Total voters for 1951 general elections were almost 17.3 crore and total seats were 489.Out of which the Indian National Congress (INC) won 364 seats.

There were five years for elected Lok Sabha to serve the country and after five years first Lok Sabha of India completed its tenure and was dissolved on 4th April 1957.
