when was the grazing tax introduced ? why was this tax so high ?

The colonial government was interested in gaining huge profits,so they looked for every possible source of taxation. As a result tax was imposed even on grazing lands, around the mid nineteenth century, in India. The tax per head of animal increased rapidly over the years,as the british wanted more and more profits to their name.

The Grazing tax was introduced by colonial government in 18th century . The tax was very high because it was a source to earn huge profit and increase the revenue income.
