The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919 when troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Acting Brig-Gen Reginald Dyer fired rifles into a crowd of Punjabis who had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab.

On 13 April 1919, troops of the British-Indian Army fired rifles into the crowd of Punjabis who gathered in the Jallianawala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab. The troops rifled under the command of Reginald Dyer. After the citizens, gathered for protests to condemn the arrest of two national leaders Satya pal and Safiuddin kitchlew. Identified dead were 379, with approx 1,100 were wounded.
