The first Tiranga was planted on Mt. Everest on 20 May 1965.
EXPLANATION:
It was summited by Avtar Singh Cheema along with 8 others that led the first Indian expedition to the top of the world. The expedition was led by Indian army and the expedition crew finally reached the summit on the third attempt after two failing attempts.
Avtar Singh Cheema was a captain at that time he was promoted to the rank of colonel after that. He was later awarded the Padma and Arjuna awards by the government.
