When water boils,
In order to obtain single element molecules (ie. oxygen or hydrogen) in water, the O-H bond in H2O must be broken first. The energy needed to do that is 464kJ/mol. And that's for only one bond in water.
all because of water consists of two molecules of H. and one molecule of O
and when heat is given. then this compond is broken into their respective molecules.
