\sf\huge\bold{Answer:}

Given :

  • Increase in volume when water changes into ice = 9%

To find :

  • Decrease in volume when ice changes to water

Solution :

Let volume of water = 100ml.

After solidifying it will = 109 ml.

After melting it will be 100 ml again.

Hence decreasing (109–100) = 9 ml from 109 ml.

Therefore, the decreasing percentage will be

  \tt\ =  \frac{9}{109}  \times 100\% \\

  \tt\ =  \frac{900}{109} \% \\

 \tt\ = 0.12111...

 \tt\ ≈0.121
