When we breath mixture of gases enters the human body then why we say that oxygen enters and co2 comes out. plzzzz comment

we inhale many gases
we know that there is
78% of nitrogen
21% of oxygen
1% other gases
so what happens when we inhale do we inhale all the all the gases??
no the body takes only the ones which are very essential that is oxygen and gives back carbon dioxide
