When we fall on rough surface we get more hurt bcoz when we fall on rough surface then our momentum changes very quickly (means in very less time ) as we know if time decreases then force will increase but in the case of soft surface like matteress or sponge etc... these surfaces compressed and it takes more time to change in momentum of falling body..

Thats why we get more hurt on hard surfaces...
